SPROUT CREEK FARM, for earning a 2014 Good Food Award for Madeleine, a raw goats' milk cheese—the only New York cheese to be awarded in the national competition, which recognizes superior flavor in combination with social and environmental responsibility. Also at the 2014 awards, Fruition Chocolate added to an already impressive trophy case with awards in the chocolate category for its Dominican 70%, and in the confections category for its brown butter bourbon caramels.

Dr. Tim Ryan, (pictured above) president of the Culinary Institute of America, who was recently selected as one of the 50 most powerful people in the restaurant industry. The Nation's Restaurant News recognized Ryan as a Connector, or "people who are bringing together ideas, talent and funding in the restaurant industry."

Marisa Bulzone, of the online culinary blog 150ish, which highlights the best of local food artisans working within 150 miles of New York City and often includes the Hudson Valley. Bulzone's cookbook was named the winner of Gourmand's Best Illustrated Cookbook in America. Bulzone edited, packaged and produced The Pot & The Palette Cookbook, a joint effort of Louisiana high school students and the Louisiana Restaurant Association, celebrating Louisiana's culinary heritage (with a forward by Emeril Lagasse).

John Gill and the Local Economies Project for coordinating the sale of Gill Farm in Hurley to establish a "farm hub," a regional center for training in the practices of sustainable agriculture. Programs are slated to begin during the 2015 growing season.
